About Care Bears Cottage

Welcome back to a new year.  We trust everyone had a fantastic Xmas and our educators who have had holidays are glad to be back and prepare for another year moving ahead.  Its amazing how much children grow when you don't see them for a few weeks.

The Summer weather has seen a successful crop of tomatoes this year which has seen them all turn red.  (We didn't have much luck last year).  Everyone has enjoyed sharing the sweet tomatoes with children and educators making some salsa for everyone to try.

Our events planned so far for the year include a celebration with families of Harmony Day on the 21st of March.  We invite families to join us and bring along a plate of food that is traditional to their family culture.  We hope to see many families sharing this day.

Our programming is about to get underway again with many noticings occuring over the last few weeks that have sparked childrens inspiration, imaginationand curiosity.  We will keep families informed as we move forward.

                                              __________

We are one of the few small, privately owned and operated child care centres in southern Tasmania. The centre offers you genuine, high-quality childcare in a beautiful bushland setting. The moment you walk in the door you’ll feel the friendly and loving atmosphere. We are guided by the philosophical approaches of Reggio Emilia, Rudolf Steiner & Maria Montessori, believing that children must have some control over the direction of their learning; must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing and hearing; having a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that children must be allowed to explore and have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.

The centre is over-staffed for the benefit of the little people in our care and our ratios are constantly adhered to. There are places for just 34 children each day.

Our toddler room is equipped for up to 20 children with 3 carers each day.

Our baby room caters for up to 14 children with 4 carers.

Getting it right for everyone!

All of our educators believe in providing the children with a safe and secure home-like environment so they can spend their days playing, learning and having fun. We build strong relationships with the children and their families and we feel privileged to share this part of their lives.

We are not about profit at the expense of families. We pride ourselves on ‘doing childcare right’ all the time and providing families with endless support in good times and in hard times. Interactions with children are always loving and nurturing and staff are out and about, interacting with the children constantly.

Our centre offers exciting, rich and diverse programs that provide opportunities for the children to build independence, develop social skills and enjoy early learning in preparation for kinder and school.

More importantly, we aim to have fun each day and let the children have the opportunity to be children whilst they play and learn.

Our Philosophy

At Care Bears Cottage we believe that children have the right to freedom, respect, equality, happiness, fun, education, diversity and a safe, secure and purposeful environment. They need to be loved and nurtured. Our image of the child guides us to respectfully provide them with every opportunity to succeed as the powerful and capable learners we believe they are. For them to develop according to their own uniqueness within an environment full of beauty, gifts, challenges and provocation. We aim to delight the children as they explore their world and the natural wonders around them as they grow and learn through their play.

Whilst acknowledging that parents are the first educators of their children, we strive to provide an environment to foster and nurture the child’s sense of Belonging, Being and Becoming establishing a growing identity as we work with families to find ways to connect home and the centre. We will provide a loving “home away from home” to cultivate and support family and community, honour Reconciliation and to provide and promote the building of quality attachments between children and educators
